Road Closures for Rendezvous Festival and Parade

Public Service Announcement

Post Date:02/22/2017

Whitehorse – Motorists are advised that Ogilvie Street will be subject to a Special Event Road Closure between Second Avenue and Front Street for the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Festival, from February 24 at 8 am to February 26 at 10 pm.

To minimize disturbance to the area, the Ogilvie entrance to Shipyards Park will be barricaded and monitored by volunteers in order to allow for local resident and business traffic.

In addition, festival organizers will monitor accessible parking which will be available on both sides of Ogilvie Street. Signage will be in place. The Transit Handibus will also be provided special access at Second Avenue and Ogilvie Street.

Fireworks are taking place on Saturday February 25 at 8:30 pm. Please note all vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Long Lake Road will be stopped from 7 pm to 10 pm. Only local traffic will be allowed passage, except when the fireworks are being set off. The Whitehorse Fire Department will be performing traffic control.

The Rendezvous Wrap up Parade will take place on Sunday February 26 from 3 pm to 4 pm. The parade will depart from the United Church at Main Street and Sixth Avenue, proceed down Main Street, onto Second Avenue and head to Shipyards Park.

Police Officers and Firefighters will be leading and following the parade. Bylaw Officers will be controlling the major intersections. Volunteers will be monitoring all side streets throughout the parade route to prevent non-parade traffic from joining in.

Parking will be limited during this popular festival. Use of City Transit, carpooling and active transportation options such as walking or cycling is strongly encouraged. The City thanks everyone for their patience and wishes all citizens and visitors a great Rendezvous. To learn more about the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous events please visit
