Survey on the Addition of Residential Lots to Existing Neighbourhoods

Post Date:05/25/2017

WHITEHORSE – The City of Whitehorse, in partnership with Yukon government has launched a Public Survey to seek input from local residents on potential development areas that could accommodate housing.

The survey includes questions on the type and form housing could take with the existing conditions in the potential areas. Identified areas would consider appropriate scale of development when determining the best approach to follow.

The survey is available on the City website until June 18. Respondents will be entered into a draw to win a $50 gift certificate to use at the Canada Games Centre.

“It is important to continue to look for ways to accommodate growth near existing roads or infrastructure to reduce our urban footprint,” said Mayor Dan Curtis. “However, the City is committed to working with the public to find the best approach for integrating new development into existing neighbourhoods.”

The City and Yukon government have identified parcels of land in 8 different Whitehorse neighbourhoods that could be developed for housing. There are 13 locations, and each location could be suitable for 1 - 5 housing lots.

Visit whitehorse.ca/housinglots for more information and to complete the survey online.

Residents can submit additional comments to housinglots@whitehorse.ca
