New Outdoor Fitness Equipment

Parents, parks and playgrounds are not just for kids!

Come for a workout at one of our new outdoor fitness stations! You can find them at the following locations:

  • At the corner of Nisutlin Drive and Selkirk Street
  • Next to the playground at Rotary Peace Park
  • At the bottom of the Black Street Stairs

The City has partnered with the Recreation and Parks Association of the Yukon (RPAY) to install these outdoor accessible fitness stations in City parks and trails.

In 2014, the Yukon Government contributed $71,963 from the Community Development Fund for the purchase of the fitness equipment. The City supported this project through a $4,800 Recreation Grant and was responsible for installation and maintenance of the equipment. Other supporters included ElderActive Recreation Association, Optimum Health and Fitness and the Riverdale Community Association.

Each fitness station includes a mix of equipment that allows users to target each of the major muscle groups and provide exercises for cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. Signs explain how to use the equipment properly and safely.

Contact RPAY at 668-2328 or adrienne@rpay.ca for details on the new fitness equipment.
