In partnership with neighbourhood residents, Parks installs and maintains approximately 30 outdoor skating rinks throughout the city.

Every fall, neighbourhood representatives submit applications to have the rink in their area activated for the upcoming winter. These representatives are always looking for volunteers to help clear the snow to make the rinks ready for flooding by our department.

If you would like to contribute to active living in your neighbourhood, please contact Parks, and we can direct you to your neighbourhood representative.

Would you like to have an outdoor skating rink in your neighbourhood?

Commitment

Obtain a commitment from other people in your neighbourhood who are willing to help prepare, and maintain the outdoor rink throughout the season. Identify a rink contact person for the application; this person is responsible for coordinating snow clearing of the rink as per the weekly flooding schedule.

Funding

The City offers financial assistance through Recreation Grants to encourage volunteer community groups, and organizations to further improve and develop recreation opportunities for Whitehorse residents.

Dirt n’ Soul Mountain Bike Skills Park

Operating hours are sunup to sundown during the summer.

Located in the Mount McIntyre Recreation area, the park is the ideal environment for both learning and progressing skills on two wheels. Tabletop jumps, skinnies, teeter totters, wall rides and drops…this park has enough thrills to keep all ages and abilities challenged!

Dirt n’ Soul is co-managed by Contagious Mountain Bike Club and the City of Whitehorse. Helmets are mandatory.

The Willow Track – Wolf Creek Pump Track Bike Park

The Willow Track is a pump track designed to be used by bicycles. It is located at the intersection of Cronkhite Road and Dawson Road in the Wolf Creek subdivision.

A pump track is a continuous track that is ridden without pedaling. Speed is created by “pumping” over smooth rollers and through steep berms. The surface of the track is constructed out of dirt and includes wood-built obstacles.

Winze Park Pump Track

The Winze Pump Track officially opened in September 2023. The pump track is located on Winze Lane in Copper Ridge.

This project is supported by Infrastructure Canada Canada Community-Building Fund.

Located along the Millennium Trail in Riverdale, this 31,000 square foot concrete surface skatepark is inclusive to all wheeled, non-motorized activities, and designed for accessibility.

The park features a pool-style bowl, a flow bowl, and various transition, ledge, and rail features throughout the park.

Etiquette

  • Use at your own risk
  • Safety gear is recommended
  • Please use the garbage cans around the park
  • One person at a time in the bowls
  • Alcohol and drugs are not permitted
  • Keep food and drink off the skate surfaces
  • Always pay attention to your surroundings and be mindful of other park users
  • Please keep the skate surfaces clear for other users
  • No remote control cars, motor cycles, e-bikes and e-scooters
  • Parents and guardians do not leave young beginners without supervision

Canine Bluffs Off Leash Park

Located at the end of Main Street next to Teegatha’ Oh Zheh Park, Canine Bluffs is an ideal setting for dog owners and dogs in our community.

Dog owners are encouraged to gather in this park to spend time with their dogs, connect with other owners, and watch their dogs play and interact.

Off leash dog parks offer tremendous social and recreation benefits for dogs and their owners.
