City announces Volunteer of the Year

Tim Sellars is the City of Whitehorse Volunteer of the Year.

Sellars was nominated by the Canadian Ski Patrol for dedicating countless hours and demonstrating exceptional leadership over the past 26 years.

“Tim’s significant contribution to the Ski Patrol – Yukon Zone is felt throughout the National organization. Tim provided countless hours of volunteer time to the Yukon Ski Patrol. He has ensured the group has the equipment needed through grant proposal writing or obtaining donations, and making sure the organization remains in good standing. There were a couple of years the Ski Patrol didn’t have many volunteers, and if it weren’t for Tim, it may have collapsed. The Yukon Ski Patrol is still here, and is a strong organization because of his leadership,” his nomination reads.

Mayor Laura Cabott announced Sellars as the City’s Volunteer of the Year at last night’s volunteer reception. Sellars was chosen from an impressive group of 18 volunteers who were recognized at the reception.

“We are honoured to have an amazing group of volunteers in Whitehorse,” said Mayor Laura Cabott. “Volunteers truly make a difference in our community and they inspire us all.”

The City of Whitehorse has been celebrating its volunteer community since 1987.
