Starting August 12, the pool at the Canada Games Centre will be closed for approximately seven weeks for the bottom of the lap pool to be retiled.
The tiles have reached the end of their lifespan and staff have noticed tiles breaking off, which can create debris in the water, unsafe edges for swimmers, and damage the pool.
During this closure, the pool will also undergo its regular annual maintenance. While this length of closure is longer than normal, Canada Games Centre staff are planning alternative low-impact exercises similar to the workout one would get through swimming.
