Whitehorse has now had its first snowfall, but City crews were ready.
Crews were out as soon as the snow started to fall and are now going over routes they have already hit.
Sanders are out putting down a layer of sand/salt mix, which is ideal for this type of snow as it melts quickly and provides traction.
Small equipment is out tackling the trails, including priority trails for active transportation users, and graders are in areas where snow more heavily accumulates.
Crews have also been out clearing snow and ice from City sidewalks and facilities.
The snow came down fast and stuck, but crews will be making the rounds throughout the day.
Motorists are asked to drive to conditions:
• Account for extra stopping and starting distance.
• Make sure your vehicle is clear of snow for maximum visibility.
• Change over to winter tires.
• Watch out for other road users and be patient with each other.
