The City’s Food for Fines campaign is back for its 17th year!
If you receive a parking ticket between Wednesday, November 29 and Wednesday, December 13 you have the option of paying for your ticket by donating food of equal or greater value to that ticket. City Hall will accept donations until Friday, December 15.
Money collected from eligible tickets that are paid online through whitehorse.ca/paynow will also be donated. Expired parking meter and two-hour zone ticket fines are eligible.
All donations will go directly to the Whitehorse Food Bank, Kaushee’s Place, and the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre. Since 2005, the City has raised over $92,000 in cash and food donations.
Donated food items must be non-perishable, which includes canned foods such as beans, fruit, vegetables and fish, and dried goods such as pasta, cereal and soup.
