The City of Whitehorse presented a cheque to the Whitehorse Food Bank, Kaushee’s Place, and the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre for $9,945, and your food donations worth more than $2,000.
This donation was made possible through the City’s Food for Fines campaign which gives motorists the option of donating cash or food of equal value to a parking ticket over the two-week campaign.
“We know more families and individuals are accessing these services throughout this holiday season,” said Mayor Laura Cabott. “This year’s donations will go a long way in supporting the Food Bank, Kaushee’s Place, and the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre and help provide important food and supports to those in need. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who support these organizations and to our Bylaw Services team for another successful campaign.”
Since 2005, the City has raised almost $100,000 in cash and food donations for this important cause.
