The City’s contractor, Arctic Backhoe Services, will be completing planned repairs on a section of the water transmission trunk main on the west side of Two Mile Hill this weekend.
While this work is in progress, the water distribution system will have reduced capacity and to help relieve stress on the system, residents are encouraged to limit water consumption from Friday to Sunday.
We ask that non-essential water use is limited during this time, such as watering lawns and washing cars. Any little bit you can reduce will help.
One southbound lane on 4th Avenue near Baxter Street will be closed from 7 pm on August 23 to noon on August 24 to access a drain manhole.
The contractor plans to commission the new tie-in for the transmission trunk main Sunday night (August 25).
Residents of Takhini, Valleyview, and Downtown may observe slightly higher turbidity (e.g. colouration/sediment) in their water supply during that time and should not be concerned, as it will be flushed from the system and is not considered a health risk. The water remains safe to drink during this time.
