Following the record snowfall in Whitehorse last week, Bylaw Services conducted an education and enforcement blitz in the downtown area to address non-compliance with snow removal regulations.
The blitz identified several properties that failed to clear sidewalks or improperly placed snow on roadways or in accessible parking stalls.
Following the blitz, over 30 properties corrected their issues and are no longer in violation. Thank you to those property owners that have done their part to keep our city safe and accessible.
42 tickets were issued for non-compliance.
This year, the City has added two new Bylaw officers dedicated to snow and ice management, ensuring safe and accessible sidewalks for all residents and visitors.
Bylaw will continue to issue fines for non-compliance: Initial fines are set at $250, with repeat offenders facing increased penalties ranging from $500 to $1,000.
