The City’s Food For Fines Campaign is back for its 18th year.
If you receive a parking ticket between Tuesday, November 26 and Tuesday, December 10, you have the option to make a donation of food of equal or greater value than the ticket amount rather than pay for the ticket. Expired parking meter and two-hour zone ticket fines are eligible.
Donated food items must be non-perishable, which includes canned foods such as beans, fruit, vegetables and fish, as well as dried goods such as pasta, cereal and soup.
Donations will go to the Whitehorse Food Bank, Kaushee’s Place and the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre.
The City will accept donations until Wednesday, December 11.
Online payments for eligible tickets issued between November 26 and December 10 will also be donated to this worthy cause.
Since 2005, the City has raised more than $101,000 in cash and food donations through its Food For Fines campaign.
