Masks Mandatory on Transit Beginning Monday
Whitehorse – Starting Monday, November 23rd, riders will be required to wear masks or face coverings while on board Whitehorse Transit vehicles.
“Wearing a mask on Transit vehicles is a small gesture to make to help keep everyone on board safe,” said Mayor Dan Curtis.
Riders exempt from this requirement include:
- Anyone with an underlying medical condition or disability which inhibits the ability to wear a mask or face covering;
- Persons unable to place or remove a mask covering without assistance;
- Children under 5 years of age;
- Police or first responders in an emergency.
This requirement comes as the Government of Yukon continues to work on a potential mask policy for the territory.
Riders will be expected to bring their own masks for their journey.
