Masks Mandatory on Transit Beginning Monday

Post Date:11/19/2020 12:20 PM

Whitehorse Starting Monday, November 23rd, riders will be required to wear masks or face coverings while on board Whitehorse Transit vehicles.

“Wearing a mask on Transit vehicles is a small gesture to make to help keep everyone on board safe,” said Mayor Dan Curtis.

Riders exempt from this requirement include:

  • Anyone with an underlying medical condition or disability which inhibits the ability to wear a mask or face covering;
  • Persons unable to place or remove a mask covering without assistance;
  • Children under 5 years of age;
  • Police or first responders in an emergency.

This requirement comes as the Government of Yukon continues to work on a potential mask policy for the territory.

Riders will be expected to bring their own masks for their journey.

The City of Whitehorse urges everyone to do their part and follow the Safe 6. Additional information on how to wear, use, and store your mask is available here.
