Celebrating the Whitehorse-Lancieux Friendship

Post Date:09/09/2021 3:12 PM

Whitehorse – The City of Whitehorse and the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) celebrated the 21st Anniversary of the Whitehorse-Lancieux Sister City connection earlier today at City Hall.

Both cities share a history with the poet Robert W. Service, who adopted these locations as his homes for his poetic inspirations. The great affection he had for these towns still brings the sister cities of Whitehorse and Lancieux together today.

“I am incredibly proud of the strong, long-lasting relationship we have with our Sister City, Lancieux. This celebration is a wonderful opportunity to highlight our relationship to Robert W. Service and our growing Francophone community. I want to thank the Association franco-yukonnaise for its continued dedication and collaboration to support this important connection between our communities,” said Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis.

“We are always very pleased to join the City of Whitehorse in celebrating this sister cities connection. The ties of friendship between Lancieux and Whitehorse are rich and precious and we thank the municipality for its commitment to maintaining this long-lasting relationship," said Lorraine Taillefer, President of AFY.
