Escarpment Slide Update #10

Post Date:05/29/2022 12:45 PM

Whitehorse - Public safety is a top priority, so the City has expanded the number of fenced perimeters at the base of the escarpment as a safety measure. The City is also bringing in additional experts to further assess the situation.

The public is instructed to continue avoiding the top and base of the escarpment, and to stay out of closed areas. Additional slides are possible; however, there is still no risk to the public and most private properties at this time.

The City and its geotechnical engineers continue to actively monitor the entire escarpment and respond to events of sliding. If you witness a slide, please report it to the City’s trouble line at 667-2111. In the event of an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Updates will be provided as they become available. For the most up-to-date information, call our public info line at 867-393-8444, follow our social media channels, or visit
