The City of Whitehorse is delivering active transportation improvements to Chilkoot Way between the Two Mile Hill and Riverfront multi-use pathways. The project will improve safety and the overall user experience for walking, cycling, and transit users.
The Chilkoot Way Active Transportation Improvements project will consist of a two-way protected bicycle lane on the North side of Chilkoot Way and improved transit infrastructure. The project will be delivered using rapid implementation techniques and will have minimal disruption to the corridor.
The first stage of the quick build will consist of new pavement markings and temporary delineators. Phase two will include permanent barriers, asphalt and concrete and will take place in August before the start of the school year.
This work is weather dependent and could begin as early as this Friday, July 28th. The work will take place over three evenings and road users are asked to drive with care and watch for crews and construction signage in the area.
All businesses and transit stops will remain accessible during this time. For more information, please contact the City’s contractor Skookum Asphalt at 333-1723.
