The City of Whitehorse is updating its Zoning Bylaw to bring the new Official Community Plan’s vision to life by regulating how land, buildings and other structures may be used in zones throughout the community.
The new Zoning Bylaw is being developed in consultation with community interested parties and experts in community planning to address the evolving needs of Whitehorse’s growing population while ensuring development aligns with the city’s long-term goals for sustainability and livability.
To ensure residents, developers, and community organizations stay informed and engaged, the City is gathering feedback to inform the first phase of the bylaw rewrite through an online survey, available at EngageWhitehorse.ca/zoning-bylaw-rewrite. The survey is open until January 5, 2024 and interested parties are encouraged to participate and provide their valuable feedback.

“The Zoning Bylaw Rewrite is a major project that is key to helping us implement our new Official Community Plan and important changes such as housing density, appropriate zoning and permitted uses, and even standards around development appearance. Over the coming weeks, residents will have the chance to provide input, feedback and questions which will help inform the rewrite process, and help us shape a community that reflects the views and ideas of residents for years to come.”
