Batteries from household electronics cannot be disposed of with regular waste or in your black curbside cart.
When placed with the rest of your waste, batteries pose a fire hazard at the Waste Management Facility.
Here’s what you can do to safely dispose of batteries:
– Take your used batteries to a designated Call2Recycle depot, such as The Source, Staples and Raven ReCentre.
– Lithium ion (Li-ion), small sealed lead acid (SSLA/Pb) rechargeable batteries and primary lithium batteries must be individually bagged or have their terminals covered with tape. Other battery types do not need to be individually bagged. If you are unsure what type of battery you have, place it in a bag before recycling it.
Your cooperation is vital in preventing fires and protecting our environment. Let’s work together to keep our community safe and green.
