Facility Booking
The City of Whitehorse has a diverse selection of parks and recreation facilities to host your next event.
Recreation Services operates a wide range of recreational facilities including the Canada Games Centre, Takhini Arena, Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre. Parks operates the Frank Slim Building in Shipyards Park, Rotary Park and the Robert Service Campground. Each facility offers spaces available to book for special events, meetings, conferences, group retreats, weddings or sporting events.

Canada Games Centre
The Canada Games Centre is an all-under-one-roof community recreation facility that also offers a wide range of facilities to book for your function, including meeting rooms, birthday party rentals, sports teams and league rentals, and community special events. Booking for this facility is done through Recreation Services Facility Booking Clerk.
How to Book

Recreation Services coordinates School Facilities through the Joint Use Agreement for after school community use of Whitehorse school and outdoor fields. It’s important for all interested renters to review the deadlines, terms and responsibilities in the Agreement prior to submitting their request to the city for space. Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre is located on Sumanik Drive and is home to Tennis Yukon, the Whitehorse Curling Club and the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club.
The City of Whitehorse schedules use of the Grey Mountain Room, kitchen and parking lot.
Grey Mountain Room Details
Size: 273 sq m (2,940 sq ft)

Kitchen Details
Use of kitchen can be added to a room rental, and includes stoves, sinks, dish sanitizer, fridge and counter space to be used as a prep area. A license to use the kitchen and is required for any public food service.

Takhini Arena is centrally located off Two Mile Hill, and is our largest spectator seating venue with 1535 seats. The arena features an NHL size ice sheet, dressing rooms, storage, lobby, concession, tiered spectator seating, mezzanine with kitchen, as well as an adjacent outdoor dog training facility.

All business bookings are required to:
- Sign a Parks Rental Agreement;
- Pay the profit fee;
- Provide a current copy of 3 million liability insurance naming the City of Whitehorse additionally insured; and
- Book a pre-event meeting with a Parks coordinator to discuss event logistics.
All public bookings are required to:
- Sign a Parks Rental Agreement;
- Pay the non-profit fee; and
- Provide a current copy of 3 million liability insurance naming the City of Whitehorse additionally insured; and

A public event is an event where an organization’s main objective is to invite the general public to participate. It is well planned, widely advertised and booked far in advance to confirm dates and times. Great examples of this type of activity are Canada Day, Fireweed Market, and the Yukon River Quest.
All private bookings are required to:
- Sign a Parks Rental Agreement; and
- Pay the non-profit fee (liability insurance is not required).
City staff will inform organizers whether or not a pre-event meeting to discuss event logistics is required.
A private event is an event that is organized by an individual for the purpose of a small gathering without being advertised to the general public. Great examples of this type of activity are birthday parties, staff BBQ’s, and school field trips.

Large outdoor space for year-round activities. The entire park or the following outdoor areas within the park (gazebo firepit, riverfront firepit and covered stage) can be booked during public hours of operation.
Booking hours for private events for outdoor spaces are limited to the following hours of operation:
- 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday to Sunday.
Exceptions made for special public events.
Fireplace Room
The Fireplace Room is open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fireplace Room can be booked for private events after 4 p.m.
Gazebo and Riverfront Firepits and Covered Stage
- Bookable during public hours of operation.
- A parks attendant will start and extinguish the fire; firewood is included. Bring your own roasting sticks.
- Picnic tables, partial wind barrier and extension cords are included.
- The gazebo can be booked for picnics where personal barbeques are welcome. The rental does not require the use of the firepit.

- Available for public use at all times on a first come first serve basis.
- Personal barbeques are welcome.
- Please clean up area after your event.
There is no staff on site to offer support and no “exclusive use” areas for groups to reserve. This means other park visitors are able to use the park at the same time as your event.
