Meetings
Council Chambers is open to the public. Meetings can be watched on Northwestel Community TV channel 209 or at whitehorse.ca/videos.
Public participation in meetings
Everyone is welcome to participate in Regular Council and Standing Committee meetings. Standing Committee meetings and Regular Council meetings are held in Council Chambers at City Hall every Monday at 5:30pm, unless it is the fifth Monday of a month*. If the Monday is a statutory holiday, the meeting is held on the next business day. For a list of the meetings as approved on December 9, 2024, please click here.
*In order to account for Council’s travel to the Federation of Municipalities’ Annual Trade Show, the thirteenth cycle will begin on June 30 and end on July 7.
City Council meetings offer an opportunity for residents to come to Council Chambers in-person, or appear as a delegate to speak to Council about issues that matter to them.
Register as a delegate
If you wish to present to council or committee, please notify Legislative Services by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting at [email protected]. If you have presentation materials, you’ll need to provide them ahead of the meeting.
What kind of issues can you bring up?
Standing Committee meetings: Delegates to standing committee meetings may speak to any single topic during the delegations section of the agenda except to an issue for which a public hearing has been declared closed.
Regular Council meetings: Delegates may speak about any item on the meetings agenda up for a decision, except issues for which a public hearing has been declared closed.
Public hearing and public input sessions: Anyone wanting to provide verbal input at a public hearing or public input session can appear in person, or call into a meeting. To do so, please notify Legislative Services by 12 p.m. on the day of the meeting at [email protected] to help us organize and ensure enough spacing in Chambers.
Do you need to formally register for a public hearing? No! You can still come to the meeting and make comments during the public hearing or input session if you don’t register.

A delegate addressing Council is required to state their name, address, and make their presentation in five minutes or less. Presentation materials need to be provided to City staff in advance of the meeting. Please note: Presentations are not confidential, and any materials used may be shared with the media.
