The City of Whitehorse is temporarily closing Main Street and Second Avenue on Saturday, September 30, to support the Council of Yukon First Nations procession to honour those impacted by residential schools.
The procession will begin at 11 a.m. from the Healing Totem near Front Street and will proceed along Main Street, turn north on Second Avenue and continue to Black Street where the march will end at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.
Bylaw Services will provide traffic control and barriers at intersections along the route.
Please drive with care, reduce speed, and follow traffic controllers and signage.
Transit services along Second Avenue will be affected during this time, including stops at:
- Second and Steele
- Second and Wood
- Second and Strickland
- Second and Front
- Second and Keish
- Second and Ogilvie
Commuters should use stops at Second and Shipyards Park, or Second and Hanson/Lambert during this time. Buses will be re-routed along Fourth Avenue.
