The City’s Recycling Depot opened on September 10 at the Waste Management Facility. Non-refundable materials can now be dropped off at the Depot for recycling at a cost of $1 per 90 litre bag or equivalent container.
Since the Depot opened, there has been an increase in abusive language and verbal harassment of staff at the Waste Management Facility by members of the public.
We are currently in a transition period with respect to recycling services in Whitehorse, and we acknowledge this transition can be challenging for some residents.
Everyone working in and using the City’s facilities deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect. The City of Whitehorse will not tolerate aggressive conduct, including physical or verbal abuse, threats, and harassment. If you engage in behaviour that is considered aggressive, you may be asked to leave or you may be banned from the premises.
The staff at the Waste Management Facility, like all City staff, are your neighbours and fellow residents. They work hard every day to provide public programs and services to improve the quality of life for Whitehorse residents.
