WHITEHORSE – Whitehorse Mayor Kirk Cameron has issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the new City Council, I want to thank all of the staff at the City of Whitehorse as well as our residents and the contractors that have helped to clear snow on our roads, trails and sidewalks in response to record snowfall in recent weeks.
While most residents are sleeping at night, City crews are hard at work plowing and sanding roads and trails so that residents can get where they need to go in the morning, whether it is work, school, appointments, or local businesses.
We greatly appreciate the effort of those who work around the clock to keep our roads and trails open. I am very impressed with our folks on the ground who have pivoted to address this record snowfall pushed hard to balance out our community needs. This early-season snow event demonstrates how good crews are at getting as much done as possible for as many of us as possible.
I also want to thank Whitehorse residents for doing their part. Many of us help to clear sidewalks and pathways, support our neighbors with challenges in their driveways and adjacent sidewalks, and generally help our community so we can more easily navigate throughout our city during these challenging times.
We also appreciate your patience with City crews as they undertake their important work. Together we can keep our city safe and accessible this winter.”
