Update on the gully fire

The City of Whitehorse Fire Department continues to monitor the site of a wildfire in the gully at the north end of the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (ENWIA) runway.

Residents may notice smoke as the fire continues to smoulder, but monitoring will continue to ensure there is no further ignition.

While the cause of the fire is currently unknown, Whitehorse RCMP is currently investigating in partnership with the Fire Marshalls Office.

The City would again like to thank the ENWIA fire department, Golden Horn Volunteer Fire Department, Hootalinqua Volunteer Fire Department and Ibex Valley Volunteer Fire Department. and wildland fire fighters for their prompt response and support tackling this fire.
