Gerry Quarton is the City of Whitehorse Volunteer of the Year.
Quarton was nominated by Skills Canada Yukon for his 25-year commitment to Skills Canada Yukon. As the outgoing board of directors’ president and territorial technical chair for cabinet making, Quarton’s impact extends from founding Skills clubs to mentoring youth competitors.
“His dedication to promoting skilled trades and technologies, evident even in his daily attire by wearing Skills Canada t-shirts almost daily, exemplifies his passion for empowering Yukon’s youth,” his nomination reads.
Quarton was chosen from a list of 19 impressive volunteers from various organizations who were recognized at the event. This year’s nominees were:
