Council Grants
In 2022, the City of Whitehorse disbursed $1,783,691 in grants and rebates to support community organizations and programs that benefit its residents.
The Community Clean Up Litter Grant Program offers $300 to approved groups who are designated a clean up area within the City.
The Environmental Grant offers financial assistance to encourage volunteer non-profit societies, commercial organizations and community groups in Whitehorse to further improve and develop environmental programs and projects for Whitehorse citizens.
The Festival and Special Event Grant program offers grants and in-kind support to community groups and organizations for festivals and special community needs.
The Heritage Fund provides support for eligible projects in the following categories: restoration of heritage properties; enhancement of heritage properties; renovation of heritage properties to meet code requirements; increasing public awareness of heritage issues; and other purposes as specified by Council.
With the right grant and a strong mission, community service organizations can reach their goals and create a brighter future for everyone they serve.
We’re now accepting applications for the Municipal Charges and Community Service Grant. This grant is available for municipal taxes or rent paid in lieu of taxes.
The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 15 at 4:30 p.m.
The Recreation Grant offers financial assistance to encourage volunteer community groups and organizations to further improve and develop recreation opportunities for Whitehorse citizens.
The Senior Utility Rebate is available to Whitehorse residents aged 65 or older, or to surviving spouses who meet the program’s criteria. The rebate provides money back to residents from fees paid under the water, sewer and garbage services up to a maximum of $500 per year. The deadline for applications is December 31, 2023.
